-The Road to Jericho and the myth of Fortress Applications-

Traditional infrastructure rely heavily on border protection around the corporate network. This architecture was developed in the 80's and 90's and new demands for security and especially flexibility to handle remote users has started a trend towards more granular network-based security.
Many vendors start talking about NAC, network access control and similar acronyms, that address the necessity to check the connecting end-devices before they can connect to the network. It can also check access to applications and do lots of other stuff but the solution becomes very complex and hard to manage.
It is definitively a step forward but it will still not address the overall problem of offering dynamic controlled access to authorized people regardless of their location. Even institutions like Forrester declare that NAC in its current form is dead and that it needs to evolve before it is useful.

The Jericho approach is a different way to address the same problem. It solves the same problem but the approach and result is therefore different.
