The AppGate solution has different clients for different needs, ranging from web clients to fully installed clients.
The Installation Package ToolKit makes it possible for the administrator to choose what type of client users should
connect with to gain access to their applications. For frequent users or companies rolling out specific software
that builds on their laptops this is often a big advantage.
The packages can be built to suit the exact needs of the enterprise bringing together different pieces of
functionality as well as configuring the software to present a customised look and feel. By configuring the
look and feel in conjunction with the use of specific Services or Roles it is possible to create a very wide
spectrum of user experiences.
It is also possible to have more than one installation package available - one might provide manual access
to applications, another automated access.
The different installation package toolkits can all be hosted on the same web page or on different pages.
The Web page for end users can be customized in three different ways:
- Edit the look and feel of the home page.
- Replace the client package with a customized package.
- Edit the web client to suite corporate user scenario
With the new features in the AppGate Security Server it is possible to create web pages to present
customised content and look and feel. These pages may just host a web client, be the placeholder for
an installation file, contain help text, links, other company branding or a combination of all the above.
AppGate Web clients may also be individually "named". That means if a user connects using a "named" client,
the service that the user can access can be customised for each individual instance of the client.
The appearance of the client itself can be controlled as well in order to simplify usage.
By combining the above with some of the other features in the Security Server it is also possible to
automate the software installation process. For example: if the user has connected using the Applet but
the AppGate Personal Firewall is needed for access, then a CLIENT CHECK followed by a start URL command
can be used to automatically upload and install the required package.
