To be able to support end-users in an effective way is important for any IT-organisation. AppGate has build on features to help the everyday day of an IT-manager less problematic, taking care of user problems automatically.

AppGate Trouble Shooter combines a number of Client Checks with Messages and a diagnostic web page. It runs checks for all the common configuration issues, which can cause users problems when they connect to their AppGate Security Server. The dynamic portal then displays the results. With a messaging function users even get suggestions how to solve a problems.

The combination of a test and a message with a suggestion how to solve the problem diminish the time for the users looking for information and provides the support team with an accurate problem description.

Examples of checks currently performed:
  • If port 80 already used?
  • Is is possible to do entries to the host file?
  • Check if specific patches from Microsoft are installed.
  • Check the setting for mounting shares.
Is is also possible to customise tests to be performed if there are special requirements.

This organization is one of the largest suppliers of defence products in Europe and works with customers all over the world. Security demands are high and internal information is classified in different security classes, i.e. class 1 for “secret” and class 2 for “confidential”.

To secure communication AppGate is used to determine what security level that can be reached depending on what access method is used. In combination with the AppGate Firewall the IT environment is also automatically secured according to what kind of security level information being accessed. A high security class automatically means no Internet access and only encrypted communication is permitted.
