A common problem for mobile and wireless users is that connections are unstable due to bad network coverage. Some of these interruptions just cause the connection to "pause" a short time while others may result in a new IP address being assigned. The latter will cause most systems to lose all open connections and the user has to log in again and re-establish all connections.

If the connection to the VPN server is lost, the software will automatically reconnect the user to the server when a network becomes available. The VPN client can also disconnect the user from the VPN server automatically if no data is being sent by applications. This means that applications always believe they have a connection, even though the VPN client may have disconnected the user temporarily from the VPN server due to lack of application activity.

Another example of the benefits are when a workstation with a GPRS or a 3G card moves from the “normal” wired LAN into a wireless LAN. With the new roaming capability of the VPN client, it becomes possible to seamlessly move between different networks and even to receive new IP addresses without losing contact with the VPN system and the applications. All sessions will be automatically resumed when needed.
