AppGate releases a new version of MindTerm with support for Kerberos and IPv6.
Stockholm, Sweden
With MindTerm version 3.2 users can experience single-sign-on using existing Kerberos tickets and the new support for literal IPv6 addresses now makes MindTerm even more versatile.
AppGate today announced the release of an upgrade to its highly popular secure remote access client, MindTerm. MindTerm is the most popular commercial Java-based SSH client in the world. It is used by some of the worlds leading manufacturers of communication equipment, integrating it into their products to provide secure encrypted communication. It is also available in a freeware version for non-commercial users.
The Kerberos support is a result of an increasing number of OEM integrations of MindTerm where the requirement for secure single sign-on from users already being authenticated by a Kerberos server was identified. The new version of MindTerm can use a clients existing Kerberos ticket, for example a ticket issued by an Active Directory Server, for single sign-on to an SSH server.
The new support for literal IPv6 addresses means that it is easier to use MindTerm in an IPv6 environment. It is now possible to enter and use numerical IPv6 addresses such as [2001:db8::1428:57ab]:2022.
The new version 3.2 includes many other new features, such as the ability to traverse proxies which demand NTLM authentication, for example Microsoft ISA servers and the addition of drag and drop functionality in file transfer dialog.
MindTerm is used by many OEM customers and used worldwide by companies like Sun Microsystems. MindTerm can also be downloaded free of charge for personal and limited commercial use for up to 25 users.
"These new features in MindTerm version 3.2 have been implemented as a direct result of feedback from our customers", says Martin Forssen, Chief Architect at AppGate Network Security. "We constantly improve MindTerm based on input based on the huge amount of users that MindTerm has. This time we even included code received from external parties. We appreciate the community of MindTerm users and their commitment to help us with the development of new versions."
What is MindTerm?
