How to use the AppGate Diagnostics Service
Description:
The Diagnostics service is using the standard AppGate client and server functionality to diagnose a few common problems that can be encountered on the client computer.
To fully work it requires that the version of the AppGate client is correct and we therefore recommend that you use Java Web Start AppGate Client: To launch it, point you browser to:
http://diag.appgate.com/subpage/
As soon as it starts you will see a connection dialog like this:
Use the User name: diag and the Password: diag and press OK
During the connection phase the AppGate system will perform a number of Client Checks to look for common problems on the client. The result is shown through a number of icons in the standard AppGate icon view. E.g:
Each icon can be double-clicked for further information.
The diagnostics for share error is more advanced. This is because the Microsoft configuration on the client is rather complex for this function. The share error icon will bring up a web page with information on how to make the correct configuration changes.
If one of the most common problems with shares is detected (the File and Printer sharing problem in XP SP2) there will be an additional icon that can fix this problem. It will do that by offering to set a registry entry.
