With the AppGate solution for Mobile Phones and PDAs the device is
turned into something that more resembles a PC then an ordinary
phone. Without problems the users can now access their e-mail account
and reach their their Intranet much the same way as they would do on
their PC. The information is send directly to device and do not pass
any third parties and is always encrypted. There is no need for
installation of new e-mail clients or additional web-browsers.
The user can authenticate themselves the same way that they usually
do, using passwords, tokens etc.
In this guide assumes that the user authenticates
using passwords, there are other authentication methods
supported as well. Please contact your system administrator for
more information.
The Nokia 9300/9500 can be used together with an AppGate
Security Server to achieve secure communication to E-mail
servers located on an organisations internal networks.

Server. This should be obtained from the administrator of
the AppGate Security Server.

-

-
Information on which of POP3 or IMAP the E-mail server can

only web traffic. Those will not work; make sure you have
full IP-access.

the Web and through the Internet using the GPRS/Internet
connection.

In the Location field type:
http://www.appgate.com/downloads/AGCMobile-Nokia.jar

-
When you press "Open" the jar-file will be downloaded
to your phone. Follow the instructions to install it as a
new application.
-
When the installations is finished you should be able to
find a new application called

When the phone is connected to the Security Server it's
indicated by the text "Connected" on the screen.

under AppGate You are now communicating with the E-mail
account in a secure way and can get and send E-mails as you

Roaming
All the AppGate clients have a unique feature called Roaming, which is
very useful when using GPRS. The Roaming feature will maintain the
secure connection with the Security Server even if the GPRS connection
is temporary lost or inactivate. You will remain logged in on the
AppGate Security Server while the client do "Suspend" and "Resume".
This will save you from tedious login/password dialogues and
unnecessary GPRS traffic: In the 9500 there is not possible to go from
WLAn to GPRS due to a limitation in the phone. The AppGate client will
automatically do "Suspend" after a while of inactivity The AppGate
client will automatically do "Resume" if the E-mail reader tries to
get or send E-mail.
Using Web/intranet
If your AppGate Security Server is setup for access to
an intranet web site you may access it this way:
-
Start the application "web"

-
Set the "Port" to "8090".

under "Tools", and select "Sync".
